Electricity from biomass

BIOMASSA POWER PLANT

A biomass power plant collects the energy attached to the biomass (whip) and converts it into electrical energy using a thermodynamic process. You can also use this method to convert the energy of the whip into heat at temperatures between 950 and 1,000 ºC.

🌱 Electricity Production from Biomass: Hidric Online S.L.U.’s Pyro-Gasification Solution

Hidric Online S.L.U. offers an innovative, patented technology developed by a manufacturer with over 30 years of experience in the renewable energy sector. This solution is based on a pyro-gasification process capable of converting biomass into clean, renewable, and local electricity.

🔬 What is Pyro-Gasification?

Pyro-gasification is an advanced thermochemical process that combines pyrolysis (thermal decomposition in the absence of oxygen) and gasification (partial oxidation in a low-oxygen environment). Applied to dry carbon-based materials (biomass or organic waste), at temperatures between 250 °C and 1500 °C, this process produces an energy-rich gas, similar to methane, known as syngas.

This syngas can be used as fuel in a microturbine to generate electricity with high efficiency and very low carbon emissions.

⚙️ Technical Features of the Installations

  • Electrical capacity of the plants: from 10 to 300 kW

  • Currently available units: 10, 20, and 100 kW

  • Biomass consumption for 100 kW: approx. 1 ton/hour, or 24 tons/day

  • Accepted biomass types: wood, forest waste, sawdust, wood chips, old furniture, bark, pruning residues, etc.

  • Estimated lifespan: 20 to 25 years

  • Return on investment: between 3 and 5 years, depending on use and biomass availability

  • Manufacturing cost: between €650 and €1,580 per installed kW

🌍 Who is this solution for?

This technology is especially suitable for:

Isolated or rural areas with limited grid access
Local governments or forest cooperatives looking to recover organic waste
Wood industries or businesses generating lignocellulosic waste
Self-consumption projects or short-distance energy sales
